hoof-less goats

last week we were watching a ricky gervais dvd (one of his stand up ones) and he did a joke about the fact that montana mountain goats sometimes butt heads so hard that their hooves fall off. this sounds a bit ridiculous. i finally remembered to look it up on the web. the only sites that came up were ones listing useless facts or sites where people are questioning that fact. if this is actually possible i'd like to see some footage of this(or a hoof without a goat attached). Posted by Picasa

i saw the same special (cancer was never so funny) but it seems the sites i find state that the male of this breed of mountain goat does not butt heads. they were once hunted for their hooves but i can find no mention of hooves flying off. still searching...

He prefaced the routine by saying that some of the "facts" were real and some weren't - just crazy stuff he had heard. I'm assuming this one is just a myth - probably based on how sometimes when people are hit hard enough by cars their shoes fly off.

No, I went to longleat zoo and remember a fact about this which is true, I too tried to find evidence but couldn't find anything.
