just finished my 2nd year of university and spent the first 2-4 weeks of summer being homeless (it did result in a trip down the oregon coast with some friends though) before i found out my camp that i'd worked at for ages had found a job for me (after i'd applied really late) and they wanted me to come work on advance crew in the weeks before summer started so i had a home and a job (although almost no pay) for the rest of the summer

there's a lot of stuff there right now that shouldn't be (even though i semi-cleaned it the other day) but here's my 3 things:

charlotte the chicken. i won her at zac's cousin's husband's 30th. i don't remember why but i do remember that his cousin told me she was glad the vegetarian won it cuz they were gonna get a plate of meats as the prize but as she's a vegetarian i think she decided the stuffed chicken would be the prize (it lives on the desk only cuz we haven't found a better place for it and if its within wombat's reach it will probably end up in 1000 pieces)

What kind of soap is in your bathtub?
right now i think its mango. or maybe strawberry. i buy it 5 bars at a time and never pick 2 the same cuz there's so many good scents.

Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator?
nope.

What would you change about your living room?
add air conditioning. and get rid of the brown carpet. and all the clutter. and make the window on the west side open-able.

Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty?
we don't have a dishwasher. there's only a couple dirty dishes in the kitchen though.

a few different kinds of dip (hommus, red capsicum and a vegan veggie dip thing), lots of chocolate and a few wilting veggies.

wheat (especially ones with lots of seeds in them)

a lot of dust, a casserole dish, stubby holders, a big bowl. maybe a cereal box too(?)

i just bought a new one-- white with a pattern of what looks like water drops all over it (i had to get rid of the blue one with penguins all over cuz half the design had come off)

How many plants are in your home?
1. its not doing too well but its alive. its a bamboo plant so it shouldn't take too much nurturing to keep it going.

Is your bed made right now?
nope.

Comet or Soft Scrub?
neither. an environmentally friendly, vegan disinfectant and baking soda if i need something to scrub with.

Is your closet organized?
a bit. clothes that can hang are hanging (mostly). shoes on the bottom. junk on top of them. things i don't ever wear but think i might thrown in the top part that i can't see into/reach unless i stand on a milk crate.

Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home?
both. used to be plastic but starting to do more glass.

Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now?
i don't even think you can buy powdered iced tea in australia and only once have i actually gone to the effort to make iced tea from scratch (even though i love it)

If you have a garage, is it cluttered?
no garage. if i had one it would be cluttered though.

Curtains or blinds?
do i have them? which do i prefer? i have those pull down blinds but in the bedroom we have added a thin white see-thru-ish curtain so the neighbours can't see in during the day when the blinds are open (the almost directly face each other about 2m apart) and then we added a big sheet so we can have the window open all nite and the wind doesn't make the wooden part of the blinds bang on the window sill cuz we leave the blinds up now and just use the sheet as a blind.

it has to be fairly dark but i do have the green glow from my stereo on for an hour while relaxing music plays.

How often do you vacuum?
once a week. more if the dog is shedding lots

both. electric when i actually have a battery in it. standard most of the time.

either green or purple. i can't remember (i just grab it)

yep. with big scary looking dogs on it 8) zac bought it last week.

1 small little box (there was about 10 times that amount of stuff and a HUGE amount of dust but that all got cleaned out when we steam cleaned the carpets last week. now it all lives in zacs part of the closet-- he hasn't realized this yet)

washing the dishes. and cleaning the bathtub but zac does that for me.

i'm not sure.......maybe a few fabric scraps i've scavenged from work but nothing that i can't think of right now.

nope. the spare room is the music/junk room. the computer lives in the lounge room.

inspired

i was inspired by niki to blog about my fridge (you can click on the photo to see an enlarged version). the sides of the fridge are even more covered than the front (maybe i'll post them another day). we've got our special magnets including our canada moose, alaska bear, hand painted flower magnet hostess gift from zac's cousin's wedding (hand painted by his aunt), the house magnet i got as a gift from one of the kids for christmas a year ago....the plant magnet near the top is actually a live miniature succulent plant. oh and of course our 100s of word poetry magnets that never get rearranged except when friends come over. as for the papers under the magnets they include 2 copies of the water restrictions (i thought i lost the one we got in the mail so i printed another copy so i wouldn't be getting dobbed in by neighbours for watering when i'm not supposed to), a mini golf score card from 18 months ago in canada (when i beat zac), a funnily worded cardboard slip that comes inside the mouth of taco shells, a photo of one of the kinder groups from last year (taken before i actually had a permanent job there-- but i'm in the pic), an invitation to a party that was a week ago (i guess that one can come down now)and some vegan dog treat recipies. oh and zac's bumper sticker "meat and dairy based diets keep the rest of the world starving (through improper utilization of land resources)".
i guess a fridge does say a lot about the people who live there. funny we only have 1 random photo on it. i guess its cuz we (read zac) put a lot of photos up on the wall (not in frames, just randomly on the walls with blue tac).
